It speaks to the historical taking of marginalised voices, it speaks to domestic violence, the right to choose, to getting up when you've been knocked down and the joy in overcoming when no one thought you could.
Everyone has it in them to fly. And the very act of leaping is the biggest success of all.
Kara wrote this track when a man approached her after a show and told her she was too vulnerable for the cutthroat world of music, that she should just stick to small events in her area and not try to push further into the industry. She went home and wrote this, recording the first demo a few days later.
Since then Kara has got together with a band of amazingly talented multi-instrumentalists; The FireFlies. They’ve started playing festivals, have just released the first single and are planning out a regional tour for the upcoming EP.
Kara lives with a chronic pain disease; endometriosis. She and the band are passionate about being a part of a changing industry that gives equal opportunity to people of all abilities, LGBTQIA+, people of colour, women and men.
This song is dedicated to anyone who ever got told they couldn’t and went ahead and tried to fly anyway.
